Dota 2 x Monster Hunter Collaboration Stickers - What You Need to Know
With the recent collaboration between Dota 2 and Monster Hunter, players who grinded the event were rewarded with Sticker Capsules.
Opening these capsules gives a random hero sticker in one of three rarities:
-
Glitter
-
Holo
-
Gold
Unlike traditional Dota 2 cosmetics where you simply right-click and equip, stickers work differently. And if you’ve tried applying one for the first time, you probably noticed… it’s not obvious.
Even long-time players had to figure this out manually.
Stickers are not new to Dota. They were first introduced during The International 2022 (TI11) and have appeared in various forms since. But the system has never been particularly intuitive especially for newer players returning for the Monster Hunter event.
Let’s break it down properly.
How to Apply Dota 2 Stickers to a Hero
Here is the exact process:
Step 1 - Go to the HEROES Tab
Launch Dota 2 and look at the top of the screen.
Click the HEROES tab (right beside the Dota 2 logo).
Step 2 - Select the Hero
Choose the hero you want to assign a sticker to.
You’ll land on that hero’s Loadout page.
Step 3 - Find the “Assign Sticker” Icon
On the Loadout screen:
Look at the hero’s name.
Right beside the name, you’ll see a small icon.
Hover over it, it will say:
“Assign Sticker”
Click it.
Step 4 - Select Your Sticker
Choose from your available stickers (Glitter, Holo, or Gold).
Confirm your selection.
That’s it. The sticker is now applied.
Important: You Can Only Use ONE Sticker Per Hero
This is where many players make mistakes.
-
You can only assign one sticker per hero.
-
If you apply a new sticker…
-
The previous one is permanently removed.
-
You do NOT get the old sticker back.
Once replaced, it’s gone.
This makes Gold stickers especially risky to experiment with if you’re a collector.
Why Stickers Feel Different From Traditional Cosmetics
Unlike Arcanas, Immortals, or cache sets, stickers:
-
Do not change animations
-
Do not add particle effects
-
Do not alter hero models
They are cosmetic identity pieces visible on hero presentation and profile areas.
They’re more about personalization and collector expression than gameplay enhancement.
That’s why rarity matters more from a collector standpoint rather than an in-match visual impact perspective.
Glitter vs Holo vs Gold - Is There a Difference?
From a gameplay standpoint: no.
From a collector standpoint: absolutely.
-
Glitter - Most common tier
-
Holo - Mid-tier rarity
-
Gold - Highest rarity and hardest to obtain
Gold variants naturally feel more premium, especially when tied to limited collaborations.
It’s also important to understand that the Dota 2 x Monster Hunter stickers are currently not tradable or marketable. The capsules are no longer obtainable, and the stickers cannot be purchased from the Steam Market.
Unless Valve changes their availability in the future, the only players who will ever own these stickers are those who earned them during the event.
That makes them permanently account-bound collector items.
Common Questions Players Ask
Why can’t I right-click and equip the sticker?
Because stickers are assigned through the HEROES loadout screen, not through inventory right-click.
Can I remove a sticker?
You can replace it but the old one is permanently destroyed.
Can I use multiple stickers on one hero?
No. Only one sticker slot exists per hero.
Final Thoughts
The Dota 2 x Monster Hunter sticker capsules added a small but interesting collector layer to the game.
Applying them is simple, once you know where to look.
Just remember:
-
Go to HEROES
-
Open the hero Loadout
-
Click “Assign Sticker”
-
Choose carefully, replacement is permanent
For collectors and long-time players, even small cosmetic details like stickers add identity to a favorite hero.
And sometimes, that’s what Dota customization is really about.
