The Maw of the Megalodon is a premium, Halloween-themed cosmetic set for Tidehunter in Dota 2, introduced in the Trove of Terror treasure. This Arcana and Legendary rarity bundle completely reimagines the leviathan as a terrifying, bipedal shark monster.
Originating from the Trove of Terror treasure, this set perfectly embraces the collection's focus on dark fantasy, classic monsters, and deep-sea horror. The Maw of the Megalodon fits seamlessly into this Halloween-inspired lineup with its apex predator aesthetic. Please note that the Trove of Terror is a distinct release, meaning this reward is not a Collector’s Cache item.
Visually, the Maw of the Megalodon gives Tidehunter a massive and fearsome appearance. As seen in the official designs, the set introduces several transformative features:
-
His standard model is replaced by a hulking shark body with a white underbelly, ragged fins, and a gaping maw lined with razor-sharp teeth.
-
He wields a massive, rusted ship's anchor encrusted with barnacles and draped in heavy chains.
-
His only clothing is a tattered skirt made from thick, green kelp and seaweed.
-
The Arcana features three distinct unlockable styles: a classic deep blue great white shark, a scarred brown hammerhead shark, and a vibrant green tiger shark with a glowing red eye.
-
The bundle includes two Mythical taunts and a Mythical custom in-game cursor pack shaped like golden anchors, alongside two mythical taunts where he dangles the cadaver of Admiral Kunkka upside down by the leg to shake loose gold coins.
During matches, the Maw of the Megalodon radically alters Tidehunter’s silhouette, trading his traditional watermelon-colored leviathan look for the imposing bulk of an oceanic predator. The distinct color palettes of his three styles provide strong visual contrast, ensuring his character remains instantly recognizable from a top-down perspective. The set also features custom ability effects, most notably transforming his abilities to feature leaping sharks and turning his ultimate into an eruption of terrifying, watermelon-patterned shark maws from the depths.
Set Includes:
- Taunt: Melon Massacre - The Revenge
- Maw of the Megalodon - Weapon
- Maw of the Megalodon - Belt
- Maw of the Megalodon - Offhand Weapon
- Maw of the Megalodon - Arms
- Maw of the Megalodon - Base
- Maw of the Megalodon - Cursor
- Taunt: Shake His Booty
For Dota 2 players and cosmetic collectors, this set holds immense appeal due to its highly creative, Halloween-themed design and dual Arcana and Legendary rarity. Because it includes an Arcana, it serves as a complete thematic overhaul and a premium collector's piece. It offers a dramatic departure from Tidehunter’s standard aesthetic, making it an exceptional choice for hero mains who want a truly menacing, deep-sea monster look.
Add the Maw of the Megalodon to your Dota 2 collection and bring an apex predator to your next match.
